We live in a multi-media culture. We’ve come a long, long way from the first video games like Pong and Pac-man. While we were fascinated by the “action” of these games, they pale in comparison to today’s virtual reality games. Whether sports or war, the characters look real and the action seems lifelike. The Danger of Mixing Truth and Error
Satan is always looking for ways to trap, confuse, or dilute believers. If he can find a crack in the door, he will make every effort to mix truth and error, all the while saying, “Just be open minded.” Satan does far greater damage as the angel of light than as a roaring lion.
The most gullible fall into several categories. New believers who aren’t well-versed in Scripture can be tricked into the traps of emotionalism and fanaticism. Superstar
While watching the Disney Christmas parade one year, I heard Regis and Kelly and Ryan Seacrest introduce several people as “superstars,” “the one and only,” and “the incredible.” My problem was the fact that I had never heard of most of them. Now I feel like someone who tries to keep up with the culture and listen to what’s impacting students and children. Thus, I must conclude that these words have been overused. God Entrusted His Word to Amateurs
My wife and oldest daughter are theater addicts. My oldest daughter was a theater and communications major, so I hear this stuff all the time. We had season tickets to her plays at the Baptist college she attended. We watched her when she worked in entertainment at Disney, and we’re still raving fans as she launches into various film ventures. When she and her mother get together, they can talk about a Broadway play for hours on end. My wife has been in charge of costuming for the spring play at the Christian school sponsored by our church, as well as the movies produced by Sherwood Pictures.
