I’m reading a fascinating book right now, The First Heroes by Craig Nelson. It’s the story of the famous Doolittle Raid on Tokyo, America’s response to the attack on Pearl Harbor. As I’ve read this book and studied a little about the beginning of World War II, I’ve discovered that America, for the most part, was asleep at the wheel. Christmas Is Coming…Buy Books!
As Christmas approaches, we’re all getting our lists together of what we will give to our friends and family. Most of what we will buy will have no eternal value. Things will a) wear out, b) become boring, or c) break. Some stuff will be out of style before we get the credit card bill. Much of it will be nice, but not necessary. I Guess I’m Out of Touch
Forgive me for being old fashioned. I know, I’m a few years from my sixties and my hair is gray, but I would contend that I work hard to be current. I pastor a church with strong worship that appeals to all ages (you should see the hundreds of young people who are in our church, raising their hands, coming to the altar, and worshiping God).
