Does Anyone Else See the Humor?

We have a president who smokes, but he wants to push through healthcare reform. Does the thought of his unhealthy habit not cross his mind? What is his example saying to the millions who support him? Is it an excuse they use to justify their own unhealthy habits to their own detriment? Is his example a good one for his children? A better question is this: If he were to get cancer from his smoking, who would pay for it? The taxpayers?

While we have healthcare issues and they are real, we are the most blessed nation in the world with first rate healthcare, doctors, and hospitals. I have an assistant who grew up in Canada and is now an American citizen. Her mother had to travel hundreds of miles for heart surgery because their health care system would not allow her surgery in her area. Will we have a government—a big brother—who decides who can and will get health care?

I have to visit a chiropractor about once a month because I suffer with some severe back problems. If it weren’t for these adjustments and therapy, I might not be able to travel. Getting on and off airplanes, toting my luggage through airports, and lifting suitcases into cars has taken its toll on my body. Add to that sitting at a computer for hours on end, and my back is nothing but knots. I need the relief. Will a new healthcare plan tell me I’ll just have to suffer?

Micah 6: 8 says, “He has told you, O man, what is good: and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” For anyone other than family to determine what treatments you can have and where you can have them is a violation of that principle.

  1. I strongly agree. In fact, because of the health care system and so many other problems that have occurred in the last six months, some of the Media team and I have decided to move to Italy and become missionaries (tough job, right?) until Huckabee is elected. Italians, and most European nations, are already oppressed by their government and therefore the large majority of them do not have relationships with Christ. Sadly, the United States is heading down the exact same path.
