No matter what you thought of Ted Kennedy as a man, a Senator, or a political figure, he is dead today. Gone is the most liberal lion of the last 47 years in the Senate. Gone is the last of Joe Kennedy’s nine children. Gone is the last of a family dynasty that has, depending on your perspective, affected and impacted America either for good or bad.

I Love the Mountains
In the last few weeks I’ve preached in three states, traveled nearly 2,500 miles, preached four new sermons at home, hosted a Pastor’s Lunch, and been at a big event at our Sports Park among other things. To say I am weary is an understatement. My wife keeps saying, “Take those speaking engagements, honey. Since I came to Sherwood nearly 20 years ago, I have emphasized prayer. Early on, I established our Intercessory Prayer Ministry, and I firmly believe that prayer is an integral part of Sherwood. Welcome to the New Normal!
Sunday’s worship set a new normal for the members of Sherwood. Not that we should or would expect every Sunday to be like this past one, but it certainly reminded us of what could be if a church obeys God and functions like an “Acts 2” church in all areas.
Just Dropping By
A while back, our minister of music and his wife came by to return something they had borrowed. They both apologized for just “dropping in on us.” I repeatedly said, “No problem.” It really wasn’t a problem. All I was doing was checking my Facebook status and Terri was checking her email in her home office. We weren’t “busy,” “in the middle of something,” or “tied up.” After all, we’re empty nesters, so our lives are pretty boring and quiet. Continue reading “Just Dropping By”
