I’ve always wanted to write. For years, I thought my writing would be limited to my articles in the church newsletter. I never liked most newsletter articles—they consist of “See you Sunday” and “Wasn’t Sunday a great day.” I decided almost 25 years ago that if I was going to write something, I would share what was on my heart or my comments on culture, the news, crazy things you read, etc. I’ve now written several hundred (if not thousands) of articles. A Busy Week…
I’m getting ready to head to Louisville, Kentucky, for the annual Southern Baptist Convention. I am keenly aware of how prepared I have to be for my responsibilities at this meeting, and I’m working diligently to get all my messages together. I preach on Monday afternoon at the Pastors’ Conference on Philippians 2:2, “What if we were one spirit?” I’m looking forward to hearing the men that my friend, Ed Litton, has lined up as he’s serving as president of the conference. I’m praying I can deliver the message from the Word for the hour. I don’t want to just preach a sermon; I want a message from God. If you think about it, pray for me. I need it. Does Anyone Else See the Humor?
We have a president who smokes, but he wants to push through healthcare reform. Does the thought of his unhealthy habit not cross his mind? What is his example saying to the millions who support him? Is it an excuse they use to justify their own unhealthy habits to their own detriment? Is his example a good one for his children?
